Margaret Elcock

Margaret ElcockIntriguing, Strong-willed, Confident, Humble, that is Margaret Elcock, President/CEO of the Family-Focus Broadcasting Network and I.S.A.A.C 98.1FM, the first Christian Radio Station in Trinidad and Tobago. Margaret Elcock has been a Broadcaster by profession for over twenty years and holds the distinction of being the first woman to found and preside over a national Radio Station. In 1988 her career took an interesting turn due to her newfound faith in Jesus Christ. From then onwards her life and profession have been drastically transformed, she now broadcasts for “God and God alone”.

The Family-Focus Broadcasting Network (FBN) is a media ministry that was birthed as a result of this change. It epitomizes the fusion of her core competencies in communication with her faith in God, to provide a platform to effect positive change in the nation. She is convinced that the vexing problems of our society are rooted in the weakening fabric of our families. Any intervention to effect national transformation must be grounded in Jesus Christ and equip and empower the nation’s families to address their challenges.

These beliefs drive Margaret Elcock. She uses radio programming, television productions and even written publications to influence her listeners and viewers. Her messages encourage family members to build a nurturing environment for healthy self-esteem that makes each person feel important. Only heaven knows the full impact of Mrs Elcock’s work, but on earth, Market Facts and Opinion Media Survey, has consistently recognized I.S.A.A.C 98.1FM as one of the most listened to Radio Stations in the country. She hosts the morning drive time program - “SONRISE” aired from six to nine o clock, this has become the Number 1 morning show in the nation. Furthermore, she is the recipient of numerous awards and accolades from many organizations throughout the nation thus demonstrating how celebrated Margaret has become.

However, Margaret Elcock’s influence is not confined to our shores but has spilled over to other Caribbean territories like Barbados, The Bahamas and Jamaica where she has served on Executive Boards and addressed large conferences. Additionally, she has acted as an able ambassador of her country to nations like: Israel, Singapore and Hawaii where she has made presentations and lectures to delegates from all over the globe. At present, Margaret serves as a distinguished Faculty member of Hagaii Institute for Advanced Leadership Training in Singapore and Hawaii. In addition, she is a Trustee on the Board of the “International Third World Leaders Association (ITWLA), and was ordained as a Minister by the ITWLA, an organisation led by Dr Myles Munroe of the Bahamas.

She would not shy away from the uncomfortable heart rending issues of our society but as a consummate professional, Margaret researches the topics thoroughly and then raises an uncompromising voice that heralds God’s perspective on our everyday problems. Whether it’s the abortion debate, The U.S. led Iraqi conflict, discussions on Women’s issues, incest, crime, domestic violence, injustice and oppression, she seeks to raise awareness so that solutions can be brought to the public.

Like many high achievers, Margaret is also an accomplished family woman. She is happily married to retired Industrial Court Judge -Justice Lloyd David Elcock, and is the grateful mother of five (5) children and grandmother of one (1). Margaret Elcock is a stalwart. A picture of quiet strength, civility, humility, hard work and unrelenting commitment to the worthy cause of nation building. She is a positive change agent, an exemplar to women, a support to male leaders, a motivation to young people and a woman of God pursuing her purpose. She is a 21st century Leader indeed!
