YOUTH IN FOCUS

Youth In Focus began in 1997 out of a need to minister to the young adult population of Trinidad & Tobago. It is the brainchild of Marisa Elcock-Thongs, daughter of FBN‘s founder Margaret Elcock. Along with Marisa, were Avonelle Hector-Joseph, Kirby Jackson and Collin Hills. The four hosted a dynamic, up-tempo Saturday morning television program called “Youth In Focus”.

The format was a talk show, which included a live youth audience. Their guests included pastors, musicians, dancers and others and the topics discussed were relevant. In the years to come there would be changes in cast and content.

Since the August 31, 2002 launch of the I.S.A.A.C 98.1FM, YIF, still headed by Marisa, has grown to comprising and executive, a Performing arts Team and is now a two-hour radio program, still maintaining a young audience, and even attracting seniors.

The YIF Team as they call themselves, are Marisa Elcock -Thongs, husband and wife Andy & Alicia Raghunanan, Rhonda Smith, Curtis King, Madonna Guyadeen, Roxanne James, Rachel Rique and Raymond Ockille.

The YIF format remains just as interactive on radio, as listeners from across the country call in to voice their views, and even write to the group via e-mail.

The vision of the group has since expanded to include school tours and rallies. There are also plans to return to television in the near future.
