His first opportunity to feature some of his mixes came in the year 2000 when he Disk Jockeyed on ‘The Positive Vibes’ at 98.9 FM. Soon after, doors opened at 94.1FM where he was a guest DJ on a weekly basis. Together with Kern Tyson, co-presenter on ‘The Distinguished Gentlemen’, DJ Mickey is a co-host and the DJ of ‘Saturday Shakedown’.

As the name ‘shakedown’ implies, the programme is geared to help people shake off the stresses of the week. A much –anticipated feature is the countdown of the Top Ten Gospel Picks when listeners see whether their selection of top gospel hits coincide with the number one hits vote on. The neat mix of music, interaction and comedy segments all make for a fun filled Saturday morning. Where else can you be rebuked with a vociferous, “Shame on you!” for still being in bed way into the mid-morning.

DJ Mickey is also a production engineer, also responsible for editing programs, ads and promos aired on 98.1 FM. Married and a proud father, DJ Mickey is always exercising diligence in whatever he puts his hands to. There is no doubt that his gifting will take him places he has not yet dreamed of.
