KERN TYSON
Fifteen years ago Kern marked a defining moment in his life when he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour. Since then he has not turned back.
This gifted young man has been able to spread his influence and positive message in various arenas and quarters. He served for two years as youth president of the La Brea Pentecostal Church, and later he was the P.R.O. for the South Trinidad district youth arm of the Pentecostal Assemblies.
Not only is he a capable leader, but he is a gifted singer who is an active worship leader in his church. He was involved in music for a number of years prior to joining one of the more popular male quartets in Trinidad & Tobago known as Quintessence.
Beyond his singing and announcing abilities, Kern is also a political enthusiast and avid sports follower. Through his larger than life personality, and with a huge sense of humour, Kern can be heard poking fun at local politicians when their behaviour warrants it or he would cheer on the under dogs and celebrate with champions in any sport.
A true champion himself, Kern Tyson is a well-loved member of the family at Family Focus. Even though he is visually impaired he walks through the organization as if it were his home, poking fun at staff and literally lifting the spirits of all around.
Kern’s life ambition is to be a top-class broadcaster. The fact that he has begun his journey into the broadcasting world on ISAAC 98.1 FM seems like predestination. Currently he is a presenter on two programmes: ‘Saturday Shakedown’, with ‘DJ’ Mickey, and on the “Distinguished Gentlemen of Radio “with Anthony Williams, The Spaceman. Kern is also enjoying one of his dreams of being a sportscaster. As presenter of “At the Wicket’, a programme that supplies commentaries during the cricket season.
