HASSINA PERSAUD

Hassina Persaud is a Sunday school teacher and administrator of the church, Faith Centre, Port of Spain, which she pastors along with her husband, Dr. Leslie Persaud. She is also the mother of two beautiful girls and a son, Matthew, who has the distinction of being the youngest ‘co-host’ on 98.1 FM.

Hassina, former News Editor at ISAAC 98.1 fm, began her exciting career in Radio in September 2002 after having completed a short broadcasting course with Madonna Sampson. She was the valedictorian of that graduating class.

Hassina’s experience with media began with Print, when having completed a photography course at the University of the West Indies Extra Mural Classes, she worked for six (6) years at the Trinidad Publishing Company (Guardian Newspapers) as the second female photographer in the country.

Kingdom Kids became a reality after much prompting from Chief Announcer, Nicole Larsen. Hassina’s son, Matthew now seven, is part of the team on this exciting children’s program which also features a number of characters, portrayed by 98.1’s newscaster, Karlon Lett. Children in the nation have come to love these intriguing characters: BB Wolf, Abdool, Pirate, Surfer Dude and now Granny, all of whom have appeared in several fun activities hosted for all Kingdom Kids.

The one hour and forty-five minute programme has sing-along songs, stories, kids’ jokes, bible stories, personality and community building themes, craft and recipe ideas, a call-in segment, and a time when prayer is offered for the listeners.

Many kids have expressed delight in the attractive hampers they have won courtesy programme sponsors. Others have won great prizes at the Easter kite flying competition and they also look forward to having loads of fun at the annual Christmas Party.

The listening audience is not limited to children only, as adults too have expressed their enjoyment of the programme and its activities. Kids are encouraged to tune in on a Saturday afternoon from 12.30 pm to 2.15 pm to 98.1FM, when they will be in for a treat.
